Enhanced Estimates: PDF Exports, Package Flexibility, and Improved Clarity
This update focuses on professionalizing your client-facing documents and refining how packages and optional items behave within the estimate workspace. Users can now generate branded PDF exports for quotes, including a clear breakdown of choice sets and add-ons. We’ve also overhauled Package logic, allowing packages to be nested within choice sets and ensuring that descriptions and margins are handled consistently across the estimator and the final proposal. Finally, we’ve improved line-item detail by separating short Names from longer Descriptions, giving you more control over how information is presented to your customers.
New features
- Estimates: Export PDF on customer quotes—download a professional, branded summary with your company name and logo, scope, investment total, and clear handling of choice sets, add-ons, and optional lines (matches your proposal logic).
- Estimates: Optional Customer email closing note on the estimate workspace—your text appears at the bottom of send and resend emails only (not on the customer’s proposal page).
Improvements
- Estimates (packages): Edit package lines no longer shows a per-line Description (optional)—only regular estimate lines do. Gross margin (%) and Line retail ($) show the package’s settings, are read-only in line Adjust, and include a short note to edit the package to change them (target margin / markup stays in the package header). Package description stays only on the package line on the quote, not on regular lines.
- Estimates: Package lines can be in choice sets (make a set, drag packages in, or remove from set)—same as other lines. Package Adjust only shows package description, not the per-line “Description (optional)” field.
- Estimates: Proposal and PDF now treat packages inside a choice set like full bundles (nested lines when itemized), with clearer copy for choice sets, add-ons (priced separately until selected), and optional lines (included in the total but not required).
- Estimates (PDF): Add-ons list like other lines with (Add-on), the list price in the amount column (even when not in the document total), and a short not included / included note; packages set up as add-ons follow the same rules with no separate add-on summary block.
- Estimates & job costs: Line items use Name for the short label. Add an optional longer Description in Adjust (not on the quick-add row)—it appears on the customer proposal and in estimate emails when you use it (packages still use their nested template for the long description).
Bug fixes
- Estimates: Package description in Adjust line only shows for actual package rows on the quote—not for normal lines (a shared form layout style had prevented the panel from staying hidden).
- Estimates: Add-ons (and optional lines) inside a package now save correctly when the customer toggles them on the proposal—totals, PDF, and add-on footnotes match what they picked. Package rows in the estimator can show Includes add-ons when the bundle contains those lines.
